A silent diesel generator set is a diesel‐powered genset enclosed in a sound‑attenuating canopy or housing so it runs much quieter than open‑frame sets. Key components include acoustic panels, insulated doors, high‑quality silencers/mufflers, and anti‑vibration mounts. 

Typical noise levels are around 65‑75 dB(A) at 1 meter under load, compared to over 90‑100 dB for conventional non‑silent units.

• Higher initial cost due to canopy, insulation, soundproofing components.

• Bigger size and weight.

• Cooling design more complex (must allow airflow while keeping sound down)
